You may not have endured the stench of weed when walking the strip, paid $6.50 for an 8oz bottle of water at Harrah's or enjoyed the happiest of endings at one of our fine massage establishments, but you lost money in Las Vegas this year without even setting foot in the state of Nevada.

The casinos have now won over $1B for nine months in a row with the highest return in July at $1.36B. That is with conventions still not a full capacity and a four percent drop in visitors. What is driving this all-time record...your tax dollars.

Summer is the slowest period in LV, but with the jet fueled spending provided by stimulus checks and unemployment bonuses, the strip was packed with first-timers, ready to get high, bet big and make the strip more dangerous than ever. If you were here during that period, you immediately noticed it was a different crowd. Spirit and Frontier and Allegiant planes full of stimulated citizens without rent to pay or a job dropping our tax dollars on the Big Wheel.

None of that money will make it to the Las Vegas school system (49th rated in the country), but our state thanks you for your contribution to making our casinos great again. With Joe's poll numbers and an upcoming election, another stimulus check can't be far behind.

Unemployment Checks, have brought the ghetto to even the nice places in Vegas.

Trust me, I live here it's a shit show.

I stay away from the Strip and Down Town, it depresses me.

We were on the strip last week. Escalators not working, as usual, and now there are people sprawled out in door ways passed out. I actually had a letter to the editor in the paper last week about the lack of police presence.

They used to walk the strip, but now they simply sit in their cars, lights flashing and parked on the strip and wait for a call. Only go to Caesar's properties to maintain Diamond and when Cosmo flips to MGM, will go back to the locals exclusively.

Do you blame the Cops?

With the BLM Movement, they can't even approach a person of color without an issue.

You couldn't pay me to be a cop or a guard in the World we live in, No Thank You!!!

and at Caesars if you use the lower parking garage there's a club that they do a hip hop night at several times ..

they loiter and try and try to intimidate , staring .. walking towards you acting like they dont see you

management hands are tied , would rather not have hip hop club night so many head aches

same shit that goes down on the strip except inside of caesars

No...I would not be a cop or recommend anyone follows that career path. They do have a job to do and used to do it by walking the strip. Crime on the strip is way up and there is not an officer to be seen. Proactive policing used to be the strategy. Now their job starts with putting up the yellow police tape after the crime. BTW...I wouldn't recommend being a casino security guard either.

Sounds like cancelling this trip might not be a bad option

I don't know about that, I live in Vegas so I'm used to it.

The weekend warriors who visit, may not like the rules in place and it might put a damper on the trip.

They have these rules, will they enforce them after a couple days of hell from the patrons.

It's a sad scene from what it used to be. But way better than it was a year + ago. WAY better.

Was an absolute shit show 12-16 months ago. Not back to normal, but much better than when the Strip turned DARK.
